Yesterday, I played my own MKI farewell game in which I took 1000 points of Cygnar's Storm Division up against 1000 points of Khador's Iron Rain. This is a game that "Seattle" James and I had been talking about doing for nearly a year, but never got around to playing until yesterday. I should also note that this game parallels the very first battle report I had ever posted on YouTube, as it too was a 1000 point game.
This was also the first battle report in which I use Lt. Allister Caine, who was the first Privateer Press model I had ever purchased and painted. And I pretty much played him in the same way that I did back in 2006, which was to snipe him for six inches on the first turn and then start blasting stuff. Whenever I use Allister Caine (epic or non-epic) I make a point to use doves to represent his focus, because he brings the John Woo action to the table top. And, in this particular battle report that action was delivered.
I don't know when I'm going to get this posted, because I have a Hordes batrep in the queue as well as an end of the year vBlog.
Oh, and on an unrelated note SteamPoweredTV now has 350 subscribers, which is enough for an game of MKI Warmachine. I'm hoping that by the end of 2010 we'll have a "tournament level" subscriber count and by that I mean 500 - 750 unique subscribers.

So, Tom and Matt decided to do it big and get in a 2000 point game as a farewell to Warmachine MKI. I may be doing something similar in the near future, but it will probably be a game between two different MKI special forces builds. One thing not mentioned in the video was that the scenario being played was "No Mans Land" (represented by the road), and that they each had 25 minutes to play their turns.

And last night we played our first MKII edition of Arena Combat, and we had a blast. A lot of respawning in gate five that lead to a lot of carnage right in the middle of the board. At some point I'll do a write up in the Arena Combat rules on this very blog and connect that to a vBlog on the YouTube channel.

Wrath of the Dice Gods - Well, the Dice Rage was in full effect during that game, because for one thing I had rolled “snake eyes” no fewer than six times during attack rolls when all I needed was a three to hit. And, often time damage rolls often fell short of what I needed to do even one point of damage. There were moments when boosted damage rolls resulted in a 1, 1, and 2. Most of my dice rolls were complete whiffs. The exception to this being the dice rolls that were made with the Lord of the Feast. I should note that if my dice rolls were good I would have still probably lost, but the battle wouldn’t have been so one-sided.
Molik Karn – This is a model that got changed a couple days after this game was played. And, the way it changed would have made for a different game as far as his involvement was concerned. Why? Because Molik Karn lost his signature move: fateward. And, this means that attack rolls against him can now be boosted. That’s something that may have made a difference in this particular game.
Savagery - This spell allowed the Skorne Cav to rush across the field with a 16 inch advance and a five inch jump on turn one. Therefore, on a 4’x4’ playing surface they were 31 inches across the table on the first turn. So, it was no surprise to me that the spell got nerfed down to “additional five inches.” That would have had an impact on our game.
Lord of the Feast - I like the new Lord of the Feast for the same reason I like the MKII Hammersmith. The Feast Lord was incredibly underpowered in MKI and is now useful in his new form. So, useful that he carried my side the battle nearly by himself. He dealt with the Praetorians and the Skorne Cav with ease while everything else struggled. If he weren't a character model I'd say he was overpowered, but as a one of a kind badass I think he's just fine.
Reeves of Orboros – I just can’t seem to find a niche for this unit. I purchased them because I realized my army was way to focused on melee combat, and I needed some shooters. Their range 10 weapons means that they get charged or bumrushed before they can do anything, and when they are free to shoot at people then they can’t hit anything. I just don’t know what to think of these guys. The next time I use them it may be as proxies for Wolves of Orboros.

Soon to arrive in fully painted glory to a table top near me is the Cygnar Ally/Minion Viktor Pendrake. I think he would be a fluffy fun pair up with Alten Ashley. And I am likely to carry him in my Circle Orboros case in spite of the fact that he's a Cygnar model.
Pretty much I just have to do some detail work in regards to the eyes (and shades), lay on the minimal amount of highlights and maybe detail the "trophy" under his left foot.

And, on another note I have now brought my Bog Trog Ambushers up to a full 10 for MKII. They will not be painted to match the other eight, because I can not even begin to remember how I painted those figures back in the summer of 2007.

Today, I got in an MKII game with Tom - and from that I did a battle report where I got my butt kicked. I rolled snake eyes no fewer than six times in situation were all I needed to hit was a three or a four. Most damage rolls were soaked by by armor, and even when all I needed was a four or five to do damage.
And, this was the gruesome end to a five game winning streak that I have had on SteamPoweredTV. Be sure to stay tuned for future updates as I currently have two battle reports in the queued up for YouTube.

So, today I'm going to take this list up against a Retribution Army and hopefully get in that "vs. Retribution" Battle Report that I promised you all back in August. I'll be playing the new Retribution player that you met in the "Flashpoint Moments" video.Lord Commander Stryker - 6WJ- Stormclad 10- Thunderhead 12Storm Lances (Leader and 2 Grunts) 7Stormblade Infantry (Leader and 5 Grunts) 5- Stormblade Infantry Officer & Standard 3Captain Arlan Strangewayes 2Stormsmith Stormcaller 1Stormsmith Stormcaller 1
The Idea behind this list is that every model I field is immune to electricity based damage, so my Thunderhead can be free with itself on the battle field. It's a great idea but I'm sure my guys will be brutally gunned down before they have a chance to wreak any havoc.
Strangeways and the Stormblades are there to support the Stormclad by giving it two free points of focus each turn. And, the Stormlances are there to provide a flanking threat to the enemy forces.
Edict of Victory (Most League Points) – Tom E. (Vedgy)
Golden Gears of Cyriss (Most Games) – Matt V.T. (JeepMatt)
The General’s Honor (Most Scenario/Challenge Victories) – Matt P. (Mafio)
The next league I run will be structurally different, and probably won't have as many restrictions on Army Building types. Mostly likely it will be MKII only.

When multi-ton goliaths crash together on the battlefield even the most hardened infantry soldier has much to fear.
Before the start of the game, divide the table in half with a line running west to east through the center of the table.
Non-warcaster/warlock warrior models within 6” of an enemy warjack/warbeast suffer -1 CMD
Heavy warjacks may trample without spending focus. Heavy warbeasts may trample without being forced.
Determine deployment zones and turn order with a standard starting roll, and use standard deployment zones.
A player wins if he ends his turn with two or more friendly warjack/warbeast models on his opponent's side of the centerline while none of his opponent's warjacks/warbeasts are on his side of the table, after the second round. Do not count wrecked or inert warjacks or wild warbeasts when determining whether or not a player has won the scenario.
Destroy all opposing solos and units and receive one (1) additional league point.
Sunday, November 1, 2009
No soldier is safe when ‘jacks and beasts go on a killing spree in the center of the battlefield.
Before the game begins, mark a Control Point in the center of the table. A player holds the Control Point if he has one or more friendly warjacks/warbeasts within 6” of the point while none of his opponent’s warjacks/warbeasts are within 6” of the point.
Warjacks/warbeasts within 6” of the Control Point gain Berserk. Every time a model with Berserk destroys another model with a melee attack, it must immediately make one melee attack against another model in its melee range, friendly or enemy.
Warjacks/warbeasts within 6” of the Control Point gain +1 MAT against warrior models, friendly or enemy.
Determine deployment zones and turn order with a starting roll, and use standard deployment zones.
A player wins when he holds the Control Point at the end of his turn, starting after the second round or when the last opposing warcaster/warlock is destroyed or removed from play.
The Player who wins that game and does not lose a warjack or warbeast will earn one (1) additional league point.
See... I couldn't have done better if I set that up on purpose. My Cygnar list was built to take on "all commers" but was seriously flawed against High Armor builds. A game against a Khadoran "walking wall" would have ended with similar results.

Army Points: 100
|Captain Jeremiah Kraye||-6|
|Captain E. Dominic Darius||-5|
This list is based on 'jacks that I own, and I have only a few left over after making this list. That is INSANE! Tom tried to do the same thing and ran out of 'jacks before reaching the 100 point goal.
Compare this to one of my old 1000pt Mangled Metal lists:
Points: 976 (49 points in MKII)
Model Count: 10
Victory Points: 30
Captain Jeremiah Kraye
Major Victoria Haley
That's eight 'jacks in the MKI list and 14 in the MKII list. That's going to be a lot of fun with the right warcasters. Too bad most people I've met don't have enough 'jacks to make it happen.

IcV2 has a story on this, and you can read more about it here: Warmachine Second Edition.

It takes a valiant commander to lead his army into the enemy position.
The first player to deploy may choose the point of one table corner as his Command Position. The Second player’s Command Position is the point of the table corner diagonal from his opponent’s Command Position.
Determine deployment zones and turn order with a starting game roll. A player’s deployment zone extends 18” from his Command Position.
A player wins if he starts his turn with a friendly warcaster/warlock completely within 10” of his opponent’s Command Position or when the last opposing warlock/warcaster is destroyed or removed from play.
Get Your Solo or Unit into the enemy deployment zone and receive one (1) additional league point.
NOTE: Use a penny to represent the command position.
The background music in the original upload was too loud. When I edited the first video I dropped the volume on the musical track down by 50%, but when iMovie compiled the video it went and made the music louder. There were also a lot of audio glitches, and a part where the screen went black that I had to fix. So, this is take two:
Again, now that the audio portion has been fixed. I could use some feedback on this video.

Today, I just wanted to let you all know that SteamPoweredTV is now a part of the Iron Agenda Blog Network (IABN). If you are fans of Warmachine/Hordes and you want to see what's going on with other fans then I'd recommend checking out the following link:
I'll be sure to post more about this in the future, and I'll even do a vblog on the subject when I find the time.

Opposing forces encounter each other while in route to an emergency.
Determine deployment zones and turn order with a starting roll. Use standard deployment zones.
A player wins the scenario if they have the only Warcaster/Warlock in play by the end of the third round. After the beginning of the fourth round normal victory is achieved when a player has the only Warcaster/Warlock currently in play.
A player who wins using only warjacks/warbeasts will achieve one (1) additional league point.

Well, taking a tip from the Board Game companies, Privateer Press has released the full rules for Warmachine MKII good and early in the form of a no-frills PDF. The document is about 63 pages long and I for one plan on having mine printed out at Office Depot. In addition there are also the updated rules for the MKII models and units, and the input from the field test is clear and evident (warning: the document is over 250 pages). I've seen a lot of point adjustments and a number of tweaks.
Here's the link to follow:

This was a pretty interesting game. I put my Darius list together at the last minute, because I misplaced my 500pt ready-to-go army list. James, on the other hand, is playing with the Old Witch for the first time to see how she plays. So, this resulted in a pretty interesting game.

This was a proxy game from back in early August, and with Retribution cards that were published in NO QUARTER 25. Now that the stuff is out I'm hoping that my friends will start buying this stuff so that I can do a proper "Vs. Retribution" battle report.
Monday, September 14, 2009
I often collect "stock footage" for use in future videos that just don't seem to get used, so I decided to compile a "random moments" video made up of footage that didn't work as a single movie. Some of this very same footage my be reused in future videos, but the audio will be stripped as I'll be talking about something else.
I'm thinking of doing a follow up where I showcase the finished projects as well as spotlighting the stuff that remains to be completed.

When I originally uploaded this video it featured the song "Shock" by Fear Factory, which was something I thought was really fitting to Cygnar's lightning motif. About a year after this video was posted it got flagged for a copyright violation, but fortunately YouTube has an audioswap feature. So, I was able to keep the video at the expense of a really great song. If this video was something more than a slide show, such as a battle report or vblog then I would have had to delete from my original channel.
I do plan on doing another video like this in the near future. I currently have my Cygnar collection fully painted all the way up through Superiority. I'm considering a book-by-book slide show that would feature the figures in the order that they appeared in various expansion for Warmachine.
In addition, I also plan on doing this for my Circle Orboros collection, but I got to get more of that stuff painted.

Back in 2006 several of my friends went to GenCon SoCal and had a blast. I couldn't make it that year but had hoped to attend the following year. My hopes were dashed when I learned in 2007 that GenCon SoCal was no more. And the death of GenCon SoCal has left a void in its wake. So, to fill that void we now have Kingdom Con which is coming this April to Southern California. I'm personally hoping that this will be a west coast answer to temple con.
Check out the website, and its forum. This is one of two events for which I am putting money aside with the hopes of attending.
